Anyone have any idea why SQ are switching from 777-300ER to 777-200 metal on AMS-SIN route from 15th September 2012?
I much prefer the "super-seat" on the former.
(Mrs D did say that the seats on the latter were fine though)

Mrs D must be very nice and she must appreciate you Duffa. You could change your journey to pick up a nicer plane as SQ won't charge you an arm nor a leg to go from a different city.
We had the opposite occur on 4 runs to London where we were switched to an A380 when we booked the 777 so these changes seem to be operational.

Maybe due to extra LHR service, which is a 777-300ER. IIRC that starts around then.

AMS-SIN I found flying J very comfortable on the 777-300ER but note the cabin and seats looked rather tired. Maybe the 777-200 replacements have fresher interiors?

Didn't know that they used the 777-300ER on the route? Last year (Sep) I flew that sector on 777-200. Was the old business classs seats (purple angled flat) which was OK!
Like others said, you have a few options to re-route, maybe CDG, FRA even LHR are pretty close by and use the new J seats

Agree the 300ER was a bit tired last month. Have booked CDG-MEL instead for next July. $400 cheaper than LHR and get a night or two in my favourite city after the Ashes!!

Flying with SQ in J to AMS next weekend.. Looking forward to the 777-200 and the old J seats. I've flown to MXP twice in J on the 777-300 this year and I really hate the latest J product. The seats are incredibly uncomfortable for anything but sleeping and awkward and annoying to convert to a bed. Can't wait for the new cabins next year.

Believe it or not I haven't tried the current J cabin for the 773ER and A380. Might not try it until the new cabin releases :)

I can't believe that the current Singapore J seat in the A380 and 777 300ER could be described as anything but the best product in business class bar none.......

Would love to know what is so uncomfortable and annoying about them. Perhaps the cabin is to crowded as a 1-2-1 combination?
