Hi,

Got quite a few trips to other states from July to end of August and have just seen the SPG Platinum Challenge, seems straight forward stay 18 nights over a 3 month period and get Platinum.

Im pretty new to this so would appreciate some clarification!

Have I understood that correctly they are 18 nights?

Also I would imagine I still get all the associated points etc for my stays, or do you forfeit this for the "accelerated route" to Platinum.

Thanks for your help!

I am not sure if you book three rooms whether they count as 3 nights on this challenge, they would normally count as three stays towards the 25 stay qual for Plat.

Thanks markis10, not going to be an issue in this case as I am going alone, main issue I'm having is finding hotels that are close to my destinations... think I will using my HH card for those when available.

Also only 2 stays away from Gold, it will be interesting to see if I get Gold if I am signed up for the Plat challenge and have the associated perks of Gold for the 16 nights left on the chalenge.

I'm well overdue a holiday so will book one nearing the end of the 3 month period and make sure I hit the 18 nights in the allocated time!

It is 18 nights required.
If booking multiple rooms you will be credited the nights for one room only towards the 18.

Currently towards the end of the challenge myself, have 5 nights left to stay before end of June.
Points are showing up after each stay and also the current double points bonus promotion.

COuld someone please post the link to sign up for the platinum starwood challenge and ts and cs etc.

Suppose it all depends on how you want to achieve status, up to three rooms can count in each booking to stay/night credits, with 25 stays needed normally booking the odd extra room helps when they are cheap.

Just got the dates confirmed for the first part of my trip, so have just signed up (hopefully my dates don't change)

Will let you know how it goes.

BTW this is the email you get when you sign up:

Step up to a higher level of rewards with the SPG® Platinum Status Challenge. All you need is 18 eligible nights between 2013-07-01 and 2013-09-30. Make it happen and you'll be upgraded to Platinum status (typically attained after 25 stays or 50 nights in a calendar year). Then you'll enjoy elite status at more than 1,100 hotels and resorts in nearly 100 countries.

Good luck! I have a couple of stays coming up where I have booked three rooms @ $70 each, also getting 2k of Starpoints for each thanks to BRG.

How do you actually enrol? My girlfriend is staying at the Four Points in Geelong roughly 3 nights a week for the next few months so I'd like to sign her up to make the stays in Geelong a little less painful.

You need to ring and ask an agent!

Thanks. Have logged into her account and am chatting with an agent now. 18 stays in 3 months should be achievable for her.

Checked out Sunday with 18th night posting to my account Monday and received email stating challenge complete and account now Platinum (Wednesday afternoon).
Bonus points also posted today too, nearly perfect timing as 12 of the 18 nights were also during the current Double Take promotion.

Status is through to 28 Feb 2015, sweet :)

Thanks richiya, only had the one stay so far since being Platinum.
Booked a Deluxe Room at Sydney Westin and received a Premium on 26th floor.

Took the 500 Platinum amenity points as Breakfast was free in the Lounge anyway and the local amenity was a children's book.
A tip though is if you have a booking in the system your status will be reflected as at the time of booking.
I had read about this so mentioned at check in and my SPG number was removed then re added to the booking.
