Seriously who enjoys sourdough bread?

- The crust is impossible to bite off and chew.
- When spreading butter with a knife, it creates huge holes in the bread.
- 1 slice is too small to enjoy with a poached or fried egg.

Other airlines don't use sourdough and it's just QF from my experience....?

There is no alternative in the First Class lounge or in Business on board.
First class sometimes has had stocked $2/loaf Coles bread which is perfect

Who else shares the sourdough pain?

I'm with you!

I always go the bread roll when flying in shorthaul (MEL-SYD) J, one thing I don't like is when the CC don't bother to heat them or they're just barely heated.
Also when the mains are served and 5-10 mins later bread comes around as a CC after thought, after you've already finished eating

I've often wondered if it started its life as a ploughmans loaf weeks earlier and has shrunk due to QF catering only loading bread onto planes monthly.

Either that or standard bread is to hard to keep fresh in the airline environment.

Love the sourdough in J international...Yesterday from AKL the sourdough was soft and without holes and very very nice...As too was the rye bread:)

Sorry Trippin' I don't agree.
I love Sour Dough bread slices and would hate to seem them go.
They must be good for you: all those air-holes mean less carbs :D :p

Hey serious question... how do you eat the crust? I've never had anything less than rock hard served up?

+1 on sourdough. Its my first choice. Always disappointed if the breadbasket disappears with out being offered a second piece.
