Well sometimes things just change.

I travel out of ADL on a weekly basis and last Sunday was no different, the normal large back log of PAX at security. At least I can use the priority line.

On arrival today I noticed something different - the security area seemed bigger and the exit was smaller. So in the 4 days since I left the wall has been moved towards the VA end and an extra screening lane have been added, either 1 or 2.

Now will the airport employ or contract the staff to operate them. ;)

Nah. Just make it bigger. That’ll help the queues. Not. Where they need it is in International! That area is an embarrassment. Country yokel stuff.

What do you mean an embarrassment. How many other airports have an additional airside international security screening point after you have have already gone through airport security and are airside. It also has a Hungry Jack's within 10-20 metres so there is no need to worry about getting hungry.:p:p

Who needs F or J lounge airside, I mean second airside.;)

And and and - you can buy water and sandwiches AFTER immigration while you wait to board. In a queue. On hard seats. In a goldfish bowl.

And this is just one the reasons I choose travel international out of SYD or MEL.

Likewise although I might have to make an exception next year as the best CX award availability at the dates I want appear to be from ADL.

I went through ADL security this morning, was definitely quicker than usual and they had all xray machine/detector lanes open.

Given how many pax are flying today that's a positive result.

Now they need to fix international screening and the vehicle drop off traffic problems outside and they'll have a fairly decent airport again.

I saw the indication of this on my last time back through ADL on the 9th. Part of the exit from airside was blocked and you could see the security area was to be extended.

Arrived in ADL yesterday afternoon. I thought something seemed different before heading down the escalators. Couldn't quite figure out what.

So does this mean that there is now a priority security screening lane?

Yes it does, but the priority lane has been in place for several months. Not sure if there is a plan to dedicate one of the lanes for it. Will wait and see

Went through this morning and 2 lanes not in operation including the priority one. Fairly light traffic though so was through fairly quickly.

It's about 50/50 as to it being checked IME
In reality that lane isn’t as busy as say Mel so the odd transgression is probably fine. I wonder if Virgin premium passengers even know it exists given its ‘strategic’ placement.

Given the shared use of the terminal maybe QF paid more?
