Some help for a RJ/CX booking - how to book!

Well I've tried my hardest, and have really reached a dead end.

Basically we want to fly in C bucket (business) from VIE-HKG. Never that simple however...

Looking a VIE-AMM RJ128 (runs all but tues & sat) then a stopover. Now the hard bit. RJ flies a 333 AMM-BKK daily. From there 3x a week it goes to KUL, 4x it goes to HKG. We're looking at one of the KUL days.

A straight run on RJ metal books nicely under the fare CLOWAT. There is however another fare, CLOWEU. This allows us to take the one evening CX flight, CX702 between BKK-HKG. It has the same base fare, just has as extra 20 euros in fuel and some tax.

Nothing I've tried online can book it. Local RJ office was not much help. Even if we flew on a day where they continue to HKG, I'd prefer the CX flight. Getting out of the plane, using the various BKK lounges & some extra SC's to boot. (Also the day we want, CX has a 747 scheduled).

The fare rules for CLOWEU mention it can be booked only on RJ or CX. Should I try talking to CX? Or is this well into TA territory? Am I missing something in the rules that won't let me book it?

Can't help with the bookings questions (sounds like a TA question or if you have the patience to find out yourself) but can report that the AMM lounge is not much to report about. Flew RJ LHR-AMM-BKK and the only amazing thing in the AMM lounge was people eager to board flights to Baghdad (I would not be so keen myself at that time).
Flew RJ in J and very nice service (wiskey a plenty) but seats were old style J. Inflight entertainment was portable screen. This was a few years ago so hope things have improved. Let us know what the current state is ?

From the reading up I've done RJ have been improving a bit in recent years. The old lounges have been replaced with a new one, but the airport terminal is still due for a complete overall. I presume you were on an a310, again they have now have a330's while waiting for the 787... gee, doesn't that sound familiar!

They do have some good deals and it's another part of the world to explore. I think you're right, I may have to try a few TA's and see if they can make it work. I know it can be valid so I'm not totally crazy

Josh - no you aren't crazy! Have sent you a PM.

RJ have improved a lot in the last few years. My partner recently returned from Cairo with them and was relatively happy. I found it really hard to find photos/reviews of the new Business Class so wasn't sure what the product was going to be like. Your report will be most welcome!

Not trying to distract you from your RJ experience, but why wouldn't you fly Finnair,
It's the quickest possible flight between VIE and HKG, it is One World earning and you would arrive in HKG at a very convenient 2.30pm. Oh and it is a very reasonable AU$3219 return in J (or did you just want the one-way fare?)
