Hi,
Flying Cathay to Europe for the first time since I was bumped up to "Business" (i.e. something less comfortable than todays premium economy) in 1989.

We are in J but the OH is slightly claustrophobic and is concerned that the two-row mini cabin at the front of J (see screen cap attached) might be too small for comfort. Especially as it is a day flight, would be different at night where we are just sleeping and it is presumably quiet.

Has anyone had experience of this?

i wouldnt expect so, the seats by nature are very open and even in the mini cabin it is quite spacious and open in general. if it's a worry why not reseat in the main J cabin to avoid any issue

Those look like the new J seats - if so you wont have any claustrophobia issues.

I have only ever had one return flight on a 777. It was in J (on MH admittedly), and my first impression was how "big" the cabin was. The plane is a monster with lots of space in every direction. From memory, I couldn't even adjust the air vents from the seated position, and I'm 183cm. If someone is claustrophobic, then I reckon the 777 is a great choice, even in the mini cabin.

I had 11A from HKG to JFK. Great seat. No issues with space or claustrophobia.
