Hello peeps,

Trust you're all well and self medicating your jet lag off the top shelf.

With the refit of nearly all the fleet with lay flat seating in J, do you think it will lead to schedule changes?

The real benefit to me of lay flat seating is the sleeper service where I can arrive into my destination rested and ready for work... I am a sadis_ like that.

My preference ex-mel is for sleeper service trans-tasman instead of the Jet* services departing midnight for AKL & CHC.
If I was being really greedy (which I am) I would also like an overnight sleeper service to HKG and PVG.

Any takers or wish list?
The final piece for me is QF arrival lounges with showers.

Would be even nicer if they actually switched off the lights immediately after take off and scrapped any form of formal service on sleeper services.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I am not too sure if such an "enhancement" would be welcomed by everyone.

No, but this is the argument on every long haul that leaves after (say) 9pm. In reservation, or after boarding, you are asked if you want to dine. At the time, service will be limited to those who have said yes; speeding up the whole process. it could be done with lights at least dimmed, with personal seat lights switched on. If you have changed your mind, you could still ask.

Or some similar sensible arrangement. With nearly every airline, the bloody trolleys clank their way exorably through the cabin, lights blazing so that calm doesn't appear until about 3 hours after take-off, if you are lucky.

Apologies to the OP for the distraction; a pet peeve of mine.

No, I would not be a fan of this at all.
If I'm tired enough I'll sleep through all sorts of meal service.

With two major exceptions being SQ and CX. SQ dims cabin lights for supper on short flights, and CX delivers 4 courses and has a darkened cabin in less than an hour.

Don't BA do something like this ex JFK? They put on a proper meal in the lounge so people can skip the meal onboard.

Yes they do this for nighttime departures ex JFK. However, J is forced to dine from a limited supper menu (pity you if you didn't realise this on the ground and don't eat in the lounge), whereas F still has a reasonably full menu from which to choose.

I'm voting for QF arrivals lounges. I was only thinking about this earlier today and this would be a great addition to SYD and MEL. The lack of such never bothers me too much though as I'm normally connecting to ADL and shower over in the domestic terminal.

Would be lovely to have an overnight service to CGK, the current arrival time of 1835 is too late for any connections, and of course one loses a whole day. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can enlighten me though, isn't the idea of having this service arrive at 1835 so that QF42 can turn around and provide an overnight service on the way back (ie. minimise downtime and maximise 'aircraft utilisation')? Suffer one way to benefit the other?
