Hi flying in next Sunday with a pair of skis. Staying overnight in Naritathen back there the next morning for a bus trip.
Question. Could I fail to collect skis on Sunday and pick up Monday morning when we leave from teminal 3 at luggage oversize ?

Thinking is this will save a lot of drama

They have paid, relatively cheap, storage facilities at arrival and departures. I wouldn't muck around unless you can't afford the $10-20 (less, from memory) for the storage. It's just to hard to do some things in Japan, unless you are flyer and/or a local.

I went from arrivals to departures to leave my ski gear, so I could grab it easily on leaving. I have also had it couriered to hotels in tokyo, sapporo, airports etc. So many options.

Don't not collect it. You can put it in storage at the airport. Not sure on cost for skis, but most storage options in the Tokyo area are 6-700 Yen for a large suitcase size.
You can also arrange to have it shipped to your hotel you're going to the next day. There are a number of baggage shipping companies in the arrivals areas of the airport.

That is likely to create more drama!

If you have 24+ hours after you arrive before heading to the ski resort like you have alluded to I would Takyuban my ski bag so it is waiting in your accommodation when you arrive. It is a brilliant service. Only about $30. If you don't want to ship your back the Takyuban (black cat) counter will store bags for up to 3 days I think. They may even transfer it to another terminal if you ask. I.e drop off in international arrivals pick up in domestic departures.

Agree with the other two – black cat is fantastic at NRT. Very reliable. No need to worry about transporting it. It'll be on the slopes when you are!

(jealous!)
