Singapore airlines and Lufthansa have a submission in with the federal government about a business partnership.

Their plan is to offer price competitive flights to Europe in direct competition with Middle East airlines.

Submission is expected to be approved by November.

SIA And Lufthansa Group Joint Venture Partnership To Launch On 1 October - Singapore Airlines

28 September 2017 (Joint Release with Lufthansa Group) - Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Lufthansa Group have confirmed 1 October 2017 as the launch date for their joint venture co-operation covering flights between Singapore, Australia and Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Belgium.

Customers can choose from a wider range of travel itineraries and fare products that will be progressively offered by the airlines under the joint venture agreement.

The two airline groups have also significantly increased codeshare ties, with over 130 city pairs now offered between key markets in Europe, Southeast Asia and Southwest Pacific.

I hope it won't lead to more confusion such as I experienced at FRA recently. My LH TLS-FRA flight was delayed by fog.Cabin crew were advising connecting passengers which gate to go to. I showed my boarding pass issued by LH at TLS for the SQ
FRA-SIN 22.05 flight and was told "Your gate has been changed: it's now Z62." So I sped off there, only to be told that was the gate for the LH FRA-SIN 21.05 flight. The gate for my SQ flight remained unchanged as B28, as printed on the boardig pass. I presume the cabin crew member had been misled by the yellow band across the top of the boarding pass, indicating that it was issued by LH, and had not looked at the flight details.

Those of you who know Frankfurt airport will know that from gate Z62 to B28 is a very long way indeed and involved using the connecting train. You will not be surprised that I failed to make it in time, and had to spend the night at an airport hotel. Fortunately, SQ were able (when their check-in desk opened next morning) to re-book me on the 12.00 noon flight with a fairly connection trhough to MEL, at no extra charge.
