Hi,

I need to book a reward flight from Sydney to Copenhagen, and preferably not waitlisted.

I have a KrisFlyer account ready to transfer into, and when I look for flights I can easily find available;
Syd-Sing
Sing-Copenhagen

However Syd-Copenhagen only shows waitlisted options. Is there a way to call Virgin and get them to combine booking (like the Etihad redemptions)?
And what about the online discount?

If I look on Virgin I can book Syd-Sing and pay less tax, though there is no option onwards to Copenhagen.

Ultimately I do not want to pay two sets of taxes for the flight, and would be nice to try take advantage of the new reduced J rate syd-sing (table 2).
At the end of the day whether the booking is through Velocity, or the transfer to Krisflyer points, a reward ticket Syd-CPH is better than no ticket to me.

Thanks!!

I haven't done it (touch wood, have been lucky enough so far to get all my flights from Australia to Europe through SQ without waitlisting), however maybe give VA a call to see if there is availability and if they can make the booking. Chances are you won't get the online discount, so may it's worth working out the total cost (points and taxes) to do a SYD-CPH versus a SYD-SIN then SIN-CPH booking. You might even be able to mix it up a bit (ie the SYD-SIN booked through VA and the SIN-CPH booked through SQ). Bags should be able to be tagged right through to CPH and (worst case scenario), if VA can't issue BP's, then if you check in online and head to the SQ transfer desk in Singapore, they should be able to issue the BP's for the onward leg. What date are you looking at?

Thanks very much.
Looking around September, date isn't a lock-in I am looking at over a week period.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Perhaps it might also pay to look at one way J flights from say SYD-AMS or SYD-FRA and then pick up a paid side flight to CPH? Might give you more Saver options for the dates you're looking at and you can go in / out whichever cities you can find flights for.

I've never had any luck with waitlisted flights on SQ redemptions. I'm not sure if VA have their own stock of SQ J redemptions or not

I would just try to find an alternative route as suggested above. Otherwise good luck, I hope you can make it work :)

The call centre may help out in merging the separate sectors into one reward booking but that's no guarantee.

Hang up and call again if you don't get the answer you want.
