Hi,

I recently got a silver status match and on my profile it says I have two free lounge passes. How do I use these b/c I didn't get physical passes in the mail with the card? And are they valid for domestic flights only, as the terms seem to say, or can I use one on a flight to NZ?

Cheers

I wondered about that. My partner received the match but no passes. Whats the deal?

They are stored electronically* in your Velocity Frequent Flyer account. (i.e. Not cardboard passes like the Qantas Club ones that QFF silver members get, so you can't give them away as easily:(.) *Log in to your VFF account and see them.

The can be used at any of Virgin Australia's own brand lounges (i.e. domestic).

NOTE  the have a short shelf life, check the expiry date :!:

Hi Rick,

No you won't receive any physical passes. All you need to do is had over your Silver Velocity Card at the Lounge and they will deduct it from your account

As these are single entry passes they can only be used in a VA Lounges . I would assume if there is a VA lounge in the terminal where your NZ flight is leaving they would be accepted, but i would think these a few & far between. They can't be used in Air NZ Koru Lounges as per below

Extended Lounge Network

Effective 26 July 2011, Virgin Australia lounge members will have reciprocal access to Air New Zealand lounges in Australia and New Zealand. This gives you a total of twenty four lounges to relax in comfort prior to your Virgin Australia, Pacific Blue and Air New Zealand trans-Tasman and domestic flight departures.
Please note:
  • Reciprocal access applies to Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand owned and operated lounges only. Access to partner and contract lounges is not available. E.g. Access to Air New Zealand contract lounges in Adelaide and Perth for Velocity Platinum and Gold and Virgin Australia lounge members is not available.
  • Air New Zealand lounge access is not permitted when flying on Polynesian Blue or Pacific Blue flights to Pacific Island destinations, Papua New Guinea or Bali..
  • Virgin Australia Single entry passes (including Velocity Single entry passes) are not eligible for entry into Air New Zealand lounges.
  • Eligible members and Guests will be given applicable documentation to enter regional Koru lounges at the Air New Zealand check-in counters in these ports.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the clarification guys, I was waiting on the cardboard passes.

Thanks, I had wondered about that too.
Just checked and my 2x VA lounge passes expire in Jan 2012 with the SM processed in Oct 2011.
When I reached QF PS in September 2011, the cardboard QP complimentary pass I got expires in Nov 2012

Is there a thread about QP vs VA lounge somewhere?
All I've read is that there are no spirits served in VA!

i made it to silver last month, and have already used my 2 lounge passes - me + 3 friends in the BNE lounge last week (i'm also a paid lounge member, allowing me 1 guest).

RickD, the passes work exactly the way they've been described above - i just handed over my velocity card, mentioned that i had the extra passes loaded, and my group were in.
