Silver to Gold - 1 sector short

I was wondering if anyone had success asking for an exception if you're 1 sector short (with 2 booked sectors coming up within 2 weeks)?

I've over in Bali and with business flights, pooling and double SCs I've got to over 700SCs but I'm 1 sector short. It would be great to have the SG benefits for the economy trip home - what are my chances?

Virgin upgraded me to Platinum with 10 status points short. I would call them and ask nicely

I have 2 sectors booked in just over a week and several more domestic and international flights booked over the next 6-8 months. I'm really only asking to get the gold status before Flight #1 next week as I'll technically be gold after that flight anyway. Why would you be pissed off? o_0

The sector bar is set very low (four VA flights). This should be very achievable for any South Pacific based flyer. I support the threshold: meet it, or don't.

Um yea I will be meeting it - in spades. It would just make the return journey so much easier to get it one flight early. I've been unable to travel for a while now and dropped from Platinum to Gold and then Silver and am only now able to travel again (all self funded BTW). I had planned to take a quick trip to Launceston prior to our vacation to get the extra sector but unfortunately had to get a minor surgery that was unplanned and couldn't go.

Yeesh - there's a lot of Ferris Beuller's sister energy going round here :/

I'd prefer a happy ending: I do hope you are elevated, even though the odds are not great. But my mantra has always been: The worst anyone can say is No.

Yes I would call them and request the upgrade to Gold. Pointing out to them you will be anyway with the flights you have booked in their system. They will check on them, then make their decision.


This worked for me a couple of years ago.
