After Aloft, now comes a new Sheraton, this time for North Adelaide according to Travel Weekly. Hasn't that site been under discussion for years? Believe it when I see it ...

HOT ON THE HEELS OF ANNOUNCING ITS ALOFT BRAND WILL DEBUT IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA, STARWOOD ARE WORKING ON ADDING A SHERATON TO THE SCENE.
Under an agreement with Makris Group, Starwood Hotels & Resorts have entered into a non-binding letter of intent to open a 160-room five star Sheraton hotel to open by 2019 in North Adelaide.
The Makris Group’s $200 million project at 88 O’Connell will incorporate eight buildings including the Sheraton hotel, a first for the brand in South Australia, and will commence construction in late 2016.
Sheraton currently operates in Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast and Port Douglas.
“While there was very strong interest from a number of leading hotel operators, we are very confident that the globally-renowned Sheraton brand and Starwood hotel management best suit the quality outcome that we are seeking for North Adelaide and South Australia,” Makris Group executive chairman Con Makris said.

8 buildings - sounds like that must be the old LeCornu's site? About time!

8 buildings at 88 O'Connell Street? Looks like a lot of Chinese will be buying it!

How is Adelaide undergoing a construction boom? I thought the place was stagnating. Or is now a good time to invest in SA real estate?

It is. The major construction works are Government funded. We read our new RAH is the third most expensive building in the WORLD to build. . It is tax payers money so the boffins don't care. It is just a hospital and bed space is no different to the current one - they closed some wards before the count to ensure that it wasn't smaller.
