I had been trying to set up family pooling recently but continually got an "error retrieving the customer number xx_xx_xx_X. Please check the number and try again."

I contacted Velocity from my email and they came back and said they tested it OK but as I was the recipient my contributor would have to call them up to set up. As I was about to get my other half to call (and try explain to them on the phone when he doesn't understand half the FF speak himself) but we discovered that if we used Internet Explorer 8 instead of Google Chrome (on Windows 7) it worked!

So if you have trouble setting up family pooling for no apparent reason, try another browser.

There were people talking about this a month or more ago, but the consensus seemed to be that the issue had been resolved. It's helpful to know that it's still a recurring issue with WebKit (Which would include Safari and most mobile browsers as well as Chrome)

Chrome regularly blocks javascript on VA because they're hosted off–domain. I tend to have to check the far–right of Chrome's omnibar to see if it has blocked scripts on booking pages.

If you find that fare selection screens sometimes don't surface prices (or none of the links work), check your omnibar and make sure Chrome's not blocking javascript.

Although not an expert at family pooling, I have seen different things on the VA site work/not work simply by virtue of which browser you are using at the time i.e. Firefox vs Chrome vs Internet Explorer. So the experience of the OP is not surprising to me at all either.

I'm getting this issue now. On Apple mac and using Safari, Firefox and Chrome. I get the same issue as the OP and have tried it over all three browsers. Have tried pooling to two different members to no avail.

It happened to me over the weekend. I got it done over the phone where they told me that there was already a 2 adult pooling arrangement in place for the household...however I had dissolved that pooling arrangement months ago.

Not sure if its applicable, but I had trouble setting up pooling, until I checked the family members address to find it was slightly different to mine. Spelling errors.

Yeah I checked that but it is exactly the same.

Experience today is that it works in Chrome but not safari on a mac. Go figure.

I've had the trouble again recently, but this time not working in IE, but working in Chrome!

This is to the same person as before as well. I think I may have cleared cookies as well but can't remember.

A couple of days ago I changed the Family Pooling option mid trip using Safari on a Mac and had no problems... not that it matters but I was overseas as well when I was on line.
