Seats double booked possibility

Qf1 upgrade 6/10. During flt I looked who got 'our seats' in PE. The gentleman & I were waiting for toilet, me being me, explained his seats were mine booked & had he been upgraded. He explained they were booked from February. We originally booked economy & when PE had a sale, we paid difference to PE. I can't remember date exactly. But quite a few months.

my ? is has anyone gotten on international flt & seats double booked. I don't have enough pts to request business on return, there isn't as many vacant seats on return as outward anyway.

Just pleased for many reasons we got upgrade.

Is it possible that they were only allocated those seats after your upgrade cleared? Or had they selected your exact seats months ago?

A lot of people have no idea of the concept of selecting seats before they actually get to the airport, he probably just meant he'd booked the flight months ago.

He told me he flew a lot, wife travelling with him on our flt, they had been offered 1 business upgrade, did not take it & same seats booked Feb. I was thankful our business upgrade came through in more than one way. I wondered if anyone had this occur on international.

I realise this is a QF centric board.... but this is a general forum so....:mrgreen:

On an NZ flight AKL-LAX some time ago I had put in for a points UG from Y to Y+....

It didn't clear..... yet after I settled myself in my (carefully selected) seat another pax turned up...with the same seating assignment... Much angst and to-ing and fro-ing amongst the cabin crew....

So..... I showed them the printout of my UG application (NZ gives the higher baggage allowance even if the UG doesn't clear so evidence is good to have) and "innocently" asked if that might have something to do with it....

Ended up in Y+.. BUT no idea whether that was just a quick fix...or whether UG HAD cleared but something went wrong ...
