Myself and Mrs C are going to be doing a SYD-SIN-HND for our honeymoon soon with an SQ ticketed flight and I had a couple of questions on SCs if anyone knows:

1/ Can you use the usual mileage calculator to calculate the SCs for the legs?
1/ How quickly the SCs from the SQ flight post to your account?

I've made sure to book on W and M to ensure the flights count, and I'm counting on these to take me from SG to WP!

As an aside, in case anyone is interested and didn't know, because our outbound has a terrible layover in SIN (arr 00:20, dep 08:00), I called up SQ and asked for a transit hotel booking due to the long layover and the timing of it. They said they don't do free ones, but I'd have to pay for it. So I paid the princely sum of AUD1 per person for the first 6 hours in the T3 transit hotel.

I recently did NRT - SIN - SYD on SQ, albeit with a week in SIN.

The T3 Transit Hotel is awesome! I arrived from NRT, walking into the reception of the transit hotel at 0400 local. I didn't have a reservation but still got a room. How did you get it for a dollar per person? Get your bags checked through to HND but don't forget to pack some clothes in the carry-on. ;)

The SQ SC will post pretty quick - my experience was in about 48 hours after the flight departed. Yes you can use the normal mileage calculator if you use SYD - SIN & SIN - HND.

SYD - SIN is 3912 miles (6259 km)
SIN - HND is 3312 miles (5299 km)

Thanks erkpod! Transit hotel sounds good.

Yep, it was booked through SQ. I just called up SQ on their local reservations number (131011) and gave my PNR to the CSR who confirmed that the 8am SIN-HND was the earliest flight out of SIN. I asked politely if they would pay for an overnight hotel due to the long layover and that's when the offer came through. It's AUD1 per person for the first 6 hours, then AUD11 per person per hour over that.

Must remember that the next time I fly to Japan via SIN. Although after my last experience dealing with SQ over the phone, I'd rather book it myself online.

Can I ask what happened? My colleague also had problems with the SQ call centre when he was getting his AUD1 p/pax transit hotel reservation sorted, but finally got there. Perhaps I was just lucky.

I found the staff member I was talking with very difficult to deal with. I'm not sure how much of that was the language barrier or because it was a difficult request (a Circle Pacific fare) but I'd much rather not deal with them over the phone again if I can avoid it.

Onboard, I can't fault the service that I received on the 3 sectors (LAX - NRT, NRT - SIN, SIN - SYD) though.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I just completed 4 SQ sectors and in all cases the SCs were showing within 36 hours of the flight arriving at destination.

Mind you I was codeshare VA on SQ metal.

Cheers
Dave.
