Hi all,

Just recently did a MEL-SIN flying on SIA, but was only credited 30 SC's.

Looking at the SC earn table, all SIA flights in Y seem to earn as Full Economy. Did I only receive the Discount Economy SC's because it was booked under a VA codeshare flight number?

If so, I won't be making that mistake again....

You will probably find the discount Y options under the VA code are also on offer with SQ as non earning, which has 4 classes of discount Y where you get nothing!

It is correct that VA flight numbers on another partner's aircraft earn at the rate according to the VA points/SC tables.

Whilst true that SQ doesn't award discount economy SCs to Velocity members, be aware that's because the cheapest SQ economy fares award no velocity points or SCs at all.

So it's possible that if you'd paid a similar fare (in terms of $) to SQ directly and flown on SQ numbers you may not have earned any Velocity SCs at all.

The outbound leg was in E class, so I guess I missed out on this one.

The only challenging thing for me was the fact I booked the flight with a Velocity AMEX for the 3:1 points. I guess had I done the same on SIA and received 1.5:1 points for the booking on the AMEX, I would of received 1 point per mile as opposed to 0.5 point per mile for the VA codeshare.

Point being, it really only makes sense to book on VA with a Velocity AMEX if you are booking a Flexi.

E class with VA might equate in $$$ to one of the ineligible classes on SQ, they are not necessarily correlated.

It's not entirely clear from the OPs post whether they booked on the SQ or VA code (though I'm guessing it was the VA code). MiLK_MaN, assuming you booked the VA code - what does your eticket say the booking class was?
