I just had a look at my upcoming booking to Europe in December and noticed that QF have done a schedule change,

my original ticketed booking was;

QF 001 I 22DEC SYDSIN HK2 1720 2225 (with an upgrade request to F)
QF 009 I 22DEC SINLHR HK2 2315 0525
BA 392 J 23DEC LHRBRU HK2 0855 1105

QF9 now has had a schedule change and the MCT is no longer met from QF1 to QF9, my booking is now a straight through
QF 001 I 22DEC SYDLHR HK2 1720 0620
BA 392 J 23DEC LHRBRU HK2 0855 1105

I have just called QF platinum because my upgrade request is no longer showing and was advised that they can not put in an upgrade request for just a portion of the trip and they can not book in QF1 as 2 segments (even though I had the same last year QF1 to BKK separate segment QF1 to LHR).

Is there anything that I can do? Can I request an original routing for status credits and points? I don't have enough points for an upgrade request all the way but would really like to do the SYD to SIN in F

#Firstworldproblem I know

If it works for you, ask for the QF5 from Sydney to Singapore in place of the QF1. That will give you the separate flight numbers and meet the MCT. You won't have First Class on the first leg, but you can still request the upgrade to First on the longer SIN-LHR leg.

I thought about that but I wanted SYD SIN in F because of the tasting menu and that is a flight you can stay awake on to really enjoy the service

I thought that the ability to make upgrade requests for specific segments was one aspect to the new upgrade system.

Certainly verified by About Qantas - Media Room - Media Releases - Frequent Flyers set to fly higher with new upgrade process

Can you change the trip to be on QF9 MEL-SIN and QF1 SIN-LHR. It will mean getting down to MEL but more SC's!!!

I tried that but they want to charge me a rerouting fee for that!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I read that as being you request for the whole SYD-SIN-LHR and if one of the legs is not available you still get the other one. Maybe another call to the plat desk is in order because the lady said that it was definitely not possible...

You're probably right.

I may have misinterpreted the context of the change when I read the e-mail a few months ago.
