Hi folks,

I am thinking about doing a Status Credit run from Brisbane to Cairns and back on J Class.

For the number of Status Credits earned, this seems like a viable option?

120 SCs and the overall fare is less than $1k. And the fact that I've never been to Cairns makes this more attractive to me. Just a shame there is no lounge there.

Anyone know of any other domestic flights that give better yield of SCs per $ spent, assuming J class fares not to be promotional fares, as it will be later in the year that I will be travelling, so I wouldn't expect existing offers still to be in place.

Cheers folks!

It's not a bad offer

But you could do BNE-MEL-BNE for 898.00 AUD with the current pricing specials and you do have the MEL lounge

That actually does look very good. Might pop down to Melbourne to see my mates there on the weekend of my birthday in July.

Just need to wait to see if I'll still be working in Sydney or not, as SYD-MEL-SYD wouldn't be anywhere near as viable as a Status run, unless I just let work book my flights back to BNE anyway, and then fly BNE-MEL. That way I'll get the SCs for the SYD-BNE sectors too.

Pick the right date and you can do BNE CNS DRW return for around the same price albeit in economy but with a few extra miles.

If its the same price there are no extra miles! This is VIRGIN who don't do CNS DRW direct.

I have done the BNE CNS BNE a few times, including in J class. It is the best value option ex-BNE unless there is a big sale on MEL. Ensure you look at the flights to make sure you book on the 737-800 to get a valid J class booking. If they then change the aircraft down to a 737-700 or an Ejet, you will receive a refund of the difference between Flexi and J, but you will keep the J class status credits.

I got some amazing results during the double credits promotion with the above.

Nice one! I must do this one later in the year, especially since I missed the $299 Melbourne flights that were on offer last week.

Hopefully there will be double SCs announced again sometime soon, since I never got the email the last time. I am just a couple of weeks away from Gold. Hoping that I'll get an email the next time there are double SCs on the cards! :)

Limewood lives right by the airport and was happy enough to pick me up/drop me off so I could have a few drinks at his place. Certainly more fun than sitting in a QP on your own ;)

Or no lounge at all in my case, as I only have DJ lounge access. ;)
