Salvaging a JQ Starter Plus Fare

A few months ago I purchased a trip SYD-HNL return on Jetstar. It now looks as if I will be unable to get time off work then. Fortunately I haven't booked anything else. It appears I can change only the flight date or upgrade to business. The easy solution is to change the dates to Christmas/New Years when work is shut down anyway.
My question is, if I decide to go to Singapore instead is it possible to change to a business fare then change the destination?(paying the fare difference of course)
I originally thought I might lose my fare but thinking about it other possibilities have come to me.

The Jetstar social media team (obviously still learning to use an internet and twitter), replied to the AFF twitter link for this post (with three tweets) with the following.

"To change the destination you can upgrade to a Starter Max or Business fare (for a change fee & fare difference) and then make the changes to your destination (change fee and fare difference also apply). All changes must be completed before check-in for your current flight opens, or you will forfeit this fare. Thanks, Claire"

It would seem that international JQ airfares cannot be rerouted to go anywhere else eg SIN. Given that you have your answer I would make the changes asap to your booking and lock in dates now to HNL that fall within your leave period.

I wouldn't wait any longer as there will be no sales over this times because of Hawaii's massive popularity at this time.

Remember that as per the fare conditions you agreed to at the time of purchase, you will have to pay any difference between the original fare paid and the current fare applicable now for the Xmas/NY period.

Thanks for your replies. I had a look at the business fares and got rid of that idea, so I'll just change the dates on my flights when they become available.

The way to change the routing would be to upgrade the initial booking on the same routing to a MAX fare, then you can change the routing...as per the JQ tweet. I have successfully done this in the past. There are, of course, fees applicable, so you need to consider if the upgrade to MAX, then change fees plus any new fare change is worth it.

I've been checking flights syd-hnl but there's none available after late October. Does this mean the route is being discontinued, or jetstar is being lazy? I thought they'd be sold around 12 months beforehand.
