Australia's male flight attendants: let your hair grow long. But only if you've got a mental illness, and the medical evidence to prove it.

A Virgin Australia flight attendant sacked for not conforming to the carrier's hairstyle bible has won an appeal by the airline to stop him getting his job back.

Flight attendant David Taleski now hopes to be back in the air by next week, his lawyer says.

Interesting that he won his case by proving he had a psychiatric illness and yet is still allowed to fly.

Won't take much to figure out who it is.

Personally, can't see a problem with guys wearing their hair in ponytails, as the women do, although I'm not a huge fan of the look (on the guys, I mean).

How utterly insane! This bloke sounds like a typical troublesome employee, I bet Virgin will now be trying anything to get rid of him, eg giving him the worst rosters etc. And if I was a future employee, if he applied for a job at my company, I would like most employers Google him and as soon as I realised this was him I would not want anything to do with him. He has sadly shot himself in the foot with this. Pyrrhic victory!

Maybe this FA with a ponytail would be more readily accepted at QF ..... in their catering group ;)
