Have just been talking with RB staff in Melbourne and they are expecting to have Dreamliner on their LHR route by end of year and Asian routes starting April 2014.
I did ask about J seating configuration and was told it was 2 - 2 - 2 but forgot to ask about Y.

Does anyone know where one can find out the seating configuration details ahead of time?

Any tips on best seating places? Sorry as I guess this question is the equivalent of asking how long is a piece of string! JoyV

I googled and the configuration is supposed to be 18 full flat beds in business class, and 237 economy class seats in a 3-3-3 configuration with a pitch of 33-34' (so fairly generous).

as for exactly which row as are better... I haven't found a seat map anywhere yet.

thanks, that is reassuring- thought it may have been 3_4_3. Fares seem to be a good deal. Mel to BKK return $1858 in low season in J. Even Y seems wider than Jet star. JoyV

You'd imagine they'd be more generous than JQ comfort wise...

They are full service bar the alcohol, and the sultan does like to borrow from the fleet from time to time!

It's quite a reasonable airline.

It once flew from multiple Australian locations such as DRW, BNE, PER and SYD to BWN, but cancelled all these and introduced MEL, which is still 'alive' once a day.

I believe that the airline was losing money, which although he's allegedly the richest man in the world apparently concerned the Sultan.
