Reward Flights to Europe

Been saving Velocity points feverishly for many years - we now have 365 000 and were hoping to book some flights SYD AUH LHR (stopover in AUH) for June 12 2014 and return from MXP or ROM to AUH stopover then back to SYD leaving AUH on July 21 2014, our dates are not very flexible. And Business is a not negotiable for such a long trip. Open to other options - the important thing is getting the the UK or nearby and return

Had a look today - no reward seats - and 700 K point for SYD AUH.

Have I grossly miscalcuated or am I missing something.

Can one of the esteemed experts help me out.

I am not sure how far out Virgin loads Reward seats -- particularly partner seats with Etihad but there is a possibility that they haven't been loaded yet?

SYD-AUH-LHR has availability for at least 4 Y seats on Thursday 12th of June. How many of you are there?

The return leg is not bookable yet as it is more than 331 days out (that's what the error tells me).

Recommend looking at Dublin or Manchester rather than London - there seems to be plenty of award space in J SYD-DUB or SYD-MAN around 12 June 2014; 125k points and $81.39 co-pay a piece (though it seems only on days VA29 is operating? Hmm.)

As per 777's post above, the return leg isn't bookable yet anyway.

If you are wanting to do a stop over you will need to call as the website does not allow this type of booking. EY have a number of flights to LHR or if you are flexiable you could look at another European destination.

I've had a bit of a hunt through and all I can find is Economy availability. Searching for SYD-AUH shows me a points cost closer to 104K (I'm assuming you 700 is for multiple people, but I don't know the multiple... I'm also assuming that this is a personal/family trip.) either one way or return. I also have no idea when the reward seats from Edithad are loaded... but that is almost certainly your issue - no reward seats have been loaded yet. The only things I can think of are
1. Wait a week or two and see if anything appears for July 2014, 2. Purchase a flexi fare and upgrade with points (Need to be SG or WP for long haul & you can only do that with flights on VA metal), 3. Call the GCC helldesk.

Thanks for the feedback - the 700 K points was for anyseat in J SYD AUH one way ......

Anyseat will be MUCH more expensive than a reward seat I could only book PER to AUH in J online and rang to book AUH to MIL. I think 127000 and 45000 points $150 cash. Returning CDG to SYD 125000 points in J. Each way would have been over 700000 as an Anyseat reward.

When I booked J seats to LHR, I got a far better deal through the call centre than the website.
