Retain gold/going for Platinum

Hi guys,

First post here Only found out about this forum a few weeks ago and it's already been a great source of info, so thanks for that!

From about February this year until now I've achieved 510 Status credits... I ticked over to gold on June 18th

I have a question about retaining it though - I know I need to earn 400 SC from the day I qualified for gold within the next year in order to retain it.

My question is, if I achieve 400 more credits at, say, September 2013, I'll requalify for gold until June 18th 2015.

However, if I achieve those 400 by that date and another 90 by November 2013, I'll qualify as Platinum until November 2014.

So, if I qualify as above for Platinum, after November 2014 if I don't requalify platinum, do I drop down to gold until June 18 2015?

How does losing status work? Do you go from Platinium - Gold - Silver - Red, or is it possible to drop from Platinium, gold to red if you don't earn enough SC?

taken from the velocity website (link below) - "If on your Review Date you have not earned the required number of Status Credits or travelled the Eligible Sectors in your previous 12 month benefit period to maintain your level of membership, you will move down to the next level of membership".

so you drop from plat to gold, not plat to red.

your review date resets each time you change status. so i *think* how it works is...

- qualify for gold June 2013, retain until June 2014. if by June 2014 you've earned enough SCs, you'll retain until June 2015 (unless you upgrade in the interim). if you haven't, you'll drop to silver til June 2015 (unless you upgrade in the interim).


- qualify for platinum November 2013, retain until November 2014. if by November 2014 you've earned enough SCs, you'll retain platinum until November 2015. if you haven't, you'll drop to gold til November 2015 (unless you upgrade in the interim).

I started red in October 2012.

I'm silver as of early June 2013.

I'll be gold at the end of August 2013.

There's not really a deadline. You just have to get your rolling status credit balance for the past twelve months - as displayed in your profile on the Velocity website - to 1,000. So it's a race to add new SCs before SCs earned twelve months ago "expire."

That's good to hear. I did a few flights in October 2012 & then nothing until Jan/Feb 2013 when I went to the US & Mexico.

After I get gold in August, I've got nothing planned (yet!) until my Circle Pacific in Jan/Feb 2014.

Also got a pleasant surprise a few weeks ago. Looking at my bookings I expected to get an interstate trip from last year (2 flights each way) drop off the total just before I got to the magic number - however, it seems they worked with the posting date rather than the travel date, so got from gold to platinum a few weeks earlier than expected.

They were. I went on a music tour of the east coast over multiple sectors.
