Hello, I am flying on a J redemption to Adelaide from Perth on 22nd September on the 12.55pm flight. I've booked on this flight to give me a bit of time post arriving on SQ at 05.15am, also a J redemption.

My question is, if the flight from Singapore is on time (as I suspect it will be) can I get on an earlier flight on Qantas even though it's a J redemption and still, if available get a J class seat? Are they able to be changed like a Flexi type of ticket? I would be happy to go via Sydney or Melbourne as it also gives a bit more time in the sky and possible on the A330 with Skybed.

Many thanks

Doubtful they would reroute you via another city. You then basically take up 2 seats.

It's possible to get a change at the airport for an earlier flight. Just ask for it at checkin. I have been given a change of flight from discount Y to an earlier flight. All i did was turn up a bit early and ask if everything was on time, next thing I know I'm on the early flight. Basically up to the checkin agent. Put on your big smile and happy face.

I believe in your specific situation the ability to change to an earlier flight will depend on availability of a U class (J redemption seat) on the earlier flight. I have previously moved flights by turning up earlier and have also been denied (with reason being there were no U class despite there being her fare buckets in J available). As with most things expect to fly on the booked flight and then you can't be disappointed if it doesn't come through.

I second the opinion that it's extremely unlikely they would reroute you through another port.

It's certainly worth trying - QF may have commercial reasons for wanting you on an earlier flight (for example if the later one is overbooked). In that case you might get accommodated earlier.
