Redeeming Any Seat for Status Credit

Hey!

I am just looking into the idea of using points to book a 'ANY SEAT' redemption, so that I can earn status credit.

I was wondering, if I book a Business "reward" seat -- do I earn SC as if it was a business flight?

For ex: Sydney->Brisbane = 17K points for Business class "reward" seat. Would I then earn 40SC for the flight?

You won't earn SC's on any "reward" point redemptions. I believe you earn SC's on "Any seat redemptions", but why would you waste so many points on an any seat redemption just for a few SC's.

SYD - BNE any seat in J is 70700 if you are using points to pay for taxes as well.

You need to think about whether 70700 points or $459 to get those SC is benefical for you

I don't recommend Any Seat redemptions as there are much better ways to use your points. Save your points and just pay the cash fare if you want the SCs.

don't forget you will earn points as well on a any seat fare based on the $$ value of the ticket purchased so that will reduce the 70700 paid

No where near enough to make it worth while maybe 2000 points? .... SYD-BNE J is what, $400-500? 70,000 points is just a sign up bonus away from 96000 which is SYD-LAX in J worth whats 3-4k one way?
Unless you are points rich and have lots to blow any seat is not worth it
