Had the pleasure of experiencing this flight last month and got around to posting some notes on the experience. It's my first TR of any kind so go easy :). Thought it's about time to give some of my experiences back to y'all kind folk.

Checkin was a breeze - straight up to the J counter and no waiting.
Got the express pass through customs and in the lounge v. quickly.

First time in the QF Business lounge - I was impressed with the food compared to some other lounge's offerings. Had a nice selection of chicken and vegetable dishes in the buffet and island dining had butter chicken available.

I pre-empted the boarding call and walked to the gate maybe 5 mins early. Walked straight into the J line and with no wait boarded the plane.

Plane was Airbus A330-303, VH-QPD 'Port Macquarie' Flight: QF87
Departing Sydney 2:25pm or thereabouts. Landed in HKG at about 10:15pm local time (about 30min early).

J cabin of 30 seats was full.

Meal order taken soon after takeoff. Some decent shows to entertain on the IFE.

Meal provided about 2 hours into the flight...sorry for the half-eaten pics :) forgot I was going to take photos!
First meal:
Entree - Duck terrine and salad for the kids meal
Main - Steak in Asian style with mushrooms and chilli ; lasange for the kids

A couple of hours later the cabin lights dimmed and most pax got some shuteye.

Mid-flight snack (photos below)
Chorizo sandwich (nice), pizza for the little ones.

Lights remained dimmed until about 1.5 hours out from landing.

Summary:
- FA's pretty good, attentive, polite
- I found the noise cancelling headphones good
- the seat could do with a bit more storage
- no PJ's for day time flights :( a couple of pax were a bit peeved with that and I heard the FA's say "Sorry we have to be firm with customers, and we need them for the flight back"
- inclined flat beds good but took a little bit to try and get comfy to sleep. Pity it wasn't a longer flight - I was just getting comfy :)
- nice experience and I'd do it again.

Thanks for the read. Will look forward to installments. Have a great holiday.:)

Good pics, the food looks quite appetising!

Also what is your QFF status, and did you receive any extra special treatment (like a greeting from the CSM)?

No QF status to speak of, so no special treatment, apart from mature and polite FA's. Never any *rolled eyes* moments to speak of.

Food was decent, although the steak was a bit overdone and could have expected a bit more flavour from a Neil Perry inspired meal. Still good, nothing to complain about. Chorizo sanga was great.
