So according to the VA website:

[TH="width: 33%, bgcolor: #E9E9E9"]
Fare (From:)
[/TH]
[TH="width: 33%, bgcolor: #E9E9E9"]
Cabin (To:)
[/TH]
[TH="width: 33%, bgcolor: #E9E9E9"]
Points needed to redeem upgrade
[/TH]

Flexi (L, K or H)
Premium Economy (P)
45,000

Flexi (Y or B)
Business (Z)
45,000

Thus, depending on your Flex fare being in class LKH or YB you can upgrade to Prem or Business.

My question is how do you booking a specific fare class? When doing a search, you only get one flexi fare column, which is on the flights I searched for returned an L class (check the website source code to get it).

The old engine showed the various columns for each ticket class/type so it was possible to buy the more expensive economy ticket to get the right class if you wanted to upgrade.

So far as I can tell, there's no way to force the VA website to show you a specific fare code - so you're seeing the cheapest fare bucket within that particular fare family. Best bet would be to enlist the service of a TA.

I thought as much... time to fill out the feedback form again... Perhaps a rethink of the Upgrade options is in order if its becomes to hard to get the right fare code.

When you find the y or b class fare, be sure to double check the Y+ fare as well. It could be cheaper or close to it and the upgrade cost in pts is the same.

Both the Y and B class fares allow upgrade to business like the Y+ Saver fares, so which ever is cheaper of the two works better for a Business class upgrade.

Just be mindful that when you are trying to get the upgrade there are no guarantees. I have now tried 4 times in the past and have only succeeded once. I am hoping in time that this will be available on line. Good luck!:)
