I've heard that F on AA's 767-200 aircraft is quite good on some of the transcontinental flights (mainly LAX/SFO to JFK).

Anyone had any experiences?

Yes, they are comfortable, but not lie-flat. But hey are used on 5-hour flights so very nice for the flight type.

agree with NM! very comfortable seats however other than that there is really nothing else that stands out!

I would suggest that the ice cream sundae may be considered the other outstanding part of the AA Flagship experience.

I agree! The sundae defined First class travel for me long before I ever had the chance to fly up that end of the plane - it was the Seinfeld episode where Jerry sat next to the supermodel in First and was served an ice cream sundae that turned me...

I've since flown LAX-JFK a few times in AA F on the 767, and whilst they aren't lie-flat beds it's not really a sleeping flight anyway in my mind. The last flight was about 12 months ago and they didn't have AVOD on the flight, so we were all issued with personal DVD players and a folder of movie DVDs as a substitute.

More recently I've been organising my travel so I can pick up the Qantas 747-400 flying LAX-JFK which has a much nicer F cabin, so I can't comment on whether the AA 767-200 has changed in the last 12 months or so.

damn it! i was just in F from ORD-LAX and was unaware of the legendary sundae......:(

a word of warning too - watch out if you have your laptop setup on the front tray table while tilting the seat!!! The seat goes up before it goes down....conveniently pinning your legs in between and sending your ext HDD sprawling down the aisle

The ice cream sundae is only on the "Flagship" F services, operated trans-Continental by 3-class 763 aircraft. You don't get it on regular AA domestic F.

Is SFO-JFK a flagship service, therefore with Sundae?

At the moment system shows a 767-300 for my trip in August and seated in Row 2 [which is first row of aircraft].

Technically its not the "Flagship" service in the 2-class aircraft. However, I don't know if they serve the ice cream sundae or not on the 2-class services.

They serve the ice cream on some 2 class services

I can't see what the dig deal is with ice cream , chocolate sauce and something that is a colour similar to cream but tastes nothing like it

On international 2 class services , they do the improved version with actual cream in J

Call me stupid (many do and probably quite accurately...) but to me it's not about the quality of the icecream but that it's actually served at all.

Sure I could get a better tasting sundae down at the local icecreamery, and for a whole lot less than that airfare cost. What makes the sundae in AA F special, to me anyway, is that they way in which they make it up for you, to your requests, just like the icecreamery does.

Having always flown in economy, all I knew of airline food was that it came in a foil-covered tray and it looked as mass-produced and sad as food could possibly be. Seeing that glimpse of First Class where they make the sundae just the way you want, right in front of your nose, to me is what defined the difference between the experience in Economy and the experience in First.

Better stop lest I get too far off the topic.

Yes, economy sucks. Welcome to First.
