No I haven't gone mad! I know thats not how you spell it.
But I happened to be looking at the HTML code for the qantas home page as you do ;) and I noticed this in the hidden 'keywords' section

Code:
flights to Melbourne, hotels, [B]quantas, qantus, qanta[/B],flights, flights to, flights to London

I guess quite a few people still dont know what Q.A.N.T.A.S stands for!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You know you can go to quantas.com and it will redirect to the Qantas website - which is good because a lot of people from places other than Australia (and probably, sadly, many who do) don't know that Qantas is an acronym for something. And let's face it, we were always told to put a U after a Q.

When I saw this one I thought the worst but I am pleasantly surprised.
QF helping the folks who scored zero in the spelling test do fly so that really helps.

a lot of people type on auto pilot and often the fingers move faster than the brain sometimes... makes sense to have a few spelling mistakes still bring up there site...

I wanted to slap you medhead when I saw that thread title, wondering if you were trying to incur the wrath of fellow members on purpose.

As already commented, SEO 101. Any webmaster or digital mar/comms worth their salt will do their level best to discover the misspellings customers often use to refer to a company and their products. They then will undertake an optimisation program, loading page keywords, metadata, online advertising and the like to make sure the customers still get to the right location, and not some site filled with unrelated rubbish.

Not guilty your honour, I didn't do it, you didn't see me and you can't prove a thing.

I guess you're having trouble with reading usernames as well :p

It is not an acronym any longer. That is why they refer to themselves as Qantas rather than QANTAS:

"Hello and welcome. For a quick introduction to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program and to make it easy for you to discover how you can be rewarded as much as possible, take a moment to browse this information."

The business name was changed to Qantas some time ago.
