QR MEL Check in Times

Gooday Folks,

Does anyone know what time the Qatar Airways check in counter opens at Melbourne Airport? Specifically the 3.50pm flight?

I flew with them last year on the evening MEL to DOH flight and they opened three hours before departure.

I'm also on a 3.50pm with them next month and was hoping for an earlier check in time so if anyone has experience of them opening up before the 3hr mark I'd be keen to hear it too.

Not sure if you're still flying, I just took this flight yesterday and I can confirm the counter opens bang on 12pm - so only 3 hrs 20 mins.

Just further on this as well, the staff isn't the most competent here either. Firstly, the check in agent wasn't sure if someone with an Australian passport was ok to enter Qatar for 3 days - it took her 5 mins to check this with her supervisor.

Secondly, the check in agent also said we need health insurance (but didn't bother to check after I told her I had travel insurance through my CC) - a rule that is not the case anymore for those staying under 30 days.

3hrs 50mins, no? I don't mind a midday open, was worried it would be 12.50 giving me an hour and a half after arrival (I'm coming on a shuttle bus) before I could check in which is a pain because of luggage.

MEL INT earliest check-in has been for quite some time (years) due to MEL airport requirements:

3 hours before the fight but 4 hours if it's an A380.

Nope it is 3.20pm departure I'm fairly sure - so 3hr 20min.

Even though I checked in at basically 12pm on the dot, I didn't get into the lounge till 1pm. Baggage security at MEL is a mess and I have no idea when they plan to fix it. Priority lanes are 'open', but they just awkwardly put you in ahead of the other pax and only 20-30% of the scanners are operating anyway.

MEL really needs to get its s*** together - it's embarrassing.

Oops you're right, not sure what I was looking at when I thought it was 15:50

MEL isn't great, but I've been in worse CDG comes to mind - total cough show and no priority lanes. (And I'm always grateful I don't have to remove my laptop from my bag in MEL).

I'd have to completely agree with you re CDG - without a doubt one of the very worst airports in the world.
