Can someone possibly remind me of the process involved in transiting from QF to LH at FRA? It has been a while (2 years to the very day) since I last did it.

I will be arriving on QF5 & departing on LH4670 to AMS a couple of hours later. I remember that you take the Skyline from T2 to T1, but where do you get your onward boarding pass from? The gate?

Similarly, what is the process in reverse? ISTR last time catching the Skyline from T1 back to T2, going landside and checking in at the normal check-in counters, before going thru passport contol etc to catch QF6. On that occasion, I had an 8 hr lay-over, where as this time, a 2 hr connection. Are there transfer desks available airside, or is the process as above?

If LHR wasn't such a debacle, I would be happily transiting there. Oh well, gives me the chance to earn a few BMI points!;)

You have to clear customs/immigration and get your bags.
You can sky train it between the terminals... or you can even walk, but i noticed it seems there is LH flights from both terminals so you have already checked you need to transfer ?

btw if your status or ticket allows the BA loune is small and not very interesting in FRA. Its also well hidden.

FRA is a boring airport, but with typical German efficiency :)

I think you can actually have your bags tagged through to AMS when you first check in. If you succeed with this then you simply go to the first LH desk you find in Terminal 1 - LH Transfer desks are plentiful in Terminal 1 which is largely LH's terminal.

Sorry i was not paying attention to the AMS connection and just thinking LH somewhere in Germany. Yes you should be able to have your bags tagged all the way.

Thanks MelUser & Evan - sounds straightforward.

I know what you mean - I used the BA lounge on my RTW last year when going FRA-LHR. Very minimalistic, like most BA lounges on the continent.

Last time I transited in FRA (LH-->QF6) I used the Delta Crown Room which was a nice enough lounge. I gather the CX lounge is now the standard.

Yes, the CX lounge is now the standard for QF flights. It is similar to the Delta Crown Room in terms of size and facilities. Its lucky you don't have the 8 hour layover before QF6, as the check-in only opens 2-3 hours before flight time, and FRA is a very boring place to spend time when you can't access a lounge.

On your transit en-route to AMS, note that the security check at Terminal 1 after getting off the Skytrain has proven to be a nightmare the last couple of times I have been there, the queues are dreadful :(. In fact, I think walking from T2 to T1 may be quicker, as the security on that level is generally quicker than that at the Skytrain level.
