Hi team,

I have been tasked with the mission of booking my own honeymoon flights. The plan is to go DRW to SIN on 3K Jetstar. Maybe a day or two in Singa's then EK SIN-DXB-ATH.

I have been saving points like mad to be able to afford doing it in F. I have finally got together enough it would seem and availability is 100% in F for a month either side of 28/8/17.

Only problem is that it is only 1 seat available!

Is this normal? Will they release more? Do I have any options to get more released?

TIA team!

I can see 2x F awards on SIN-DXB most days, including on EK355 on 28/8/17.

Your problem seems to be the DXB-ATH leg where only 1 seat is released this far in advance. I'm not sure what to suggest really, other than (a) accepting the "downgrade" to J on that leg, or (b) changing the destination to somewhere nearby with 2x F seats. Rome and Milan have a few F seats available on random dates.

FWIW I'd say it's pretty likely that EK will release more F seats on some DXB-ATH flights in the future. Perhaps book J on that leg for now, and monitor for more F award releases.

So if I were to book the F/J split ticket now, what would be the effect of then cancelling and simultaneously rebooking in F/F. Any penalties etc?

You'd have to pay a 5,000 QF point change fee per passenger, plus any difference in points/taxes if applicable.

Completely understand the desire to fly in F all the way. But I just flew on the EK DXB-ATH flight last week (in Y) and its a relatively short daytime flight. Our's actually boarded from a remote gate and they bussed us to the aircraft, so you don't get the full experience of boarding directly from the F-lounge like at the A380 terminal.

They'll feed you once, you'll watch a couple of movies and you'll be in Athens before you know it. You're not likely to miss the F lie-flat seat of the 777 too much and I'd certainly be looking to book it in with this leg in J rather than risk missing out on F on the Singapore leg which I'm guessing would be overnight when you want the full lie-flat experience.

Hope it all works out for you!

Except in you are in F, in Dubai there is an F bus that only F passengers enter and it is a very comfortable ride with all the EK glitz, and fully padded armchairs for every guest. cough photo but...

Wouldn't want to shatter the image of the F cabin now, would we ;)
