Hi All

Have an upcoming work trip in Y on CX and I am QF gold. Any positive experience that I can look forward to. Have never flown CX. I have around 6 hours stop over on way out and 9 on my way back. Way back is sorted, will meet some friends...
Thanks ap

CX is a good airline and they generally have decent lounges.
Given you don't post your itinerary can't provide much more guidance.

Priority boarding is great in Hong Kong. And they don’t let anyone slip through who shouldn’t. It’s ‘to the back of the line with you’.

The lounges are nice, there's no on board welcome but I got upgraded to Premium Economy on 2/4 legs of my trip on the cheapest sale fare. So that was nice, incredibly unlikely on Emirates or Qantas... was thinking CX must still upgrade on Status rather than Fare cost or something...

Staff seemed good too!

The biggest downside is their cheapest economy sale fares which are often like half of the price of the normal fares or at least 2/3rds earn 0 status on Qantas. So unlikely to get QF status often flying economy with CX.

Free exit rows and other priority seating (such as bulkheads). Bookable now via the Cathay MMB function.

As a gold you *may* get a welcome and a bottle of water (if there isn't one already at your seat). The greeting is dependent on the length of the flight and how busy the crew are. Platinums get a bottle of Evian. Golds get a bottle of Bon Aqua (or similar). During the greeting you can ask to have your choice of main meal reserved in advance.

There's plenty of lounges to fill in your layovers, although I'd argue that The Pier, Business is the best.

I had a 6hr layover there in December last year and put together a brief summary of the Cathay First and Business class lounges. As a QF SG you'll also have access to the QF lounge, which is pretty good.

thanks moa-- itinerary as follows

Thank you. I look forward to a lounge crawl.

Sounds good. I am on SYD - HKG on a 8 AM flight on Tuesday.. exit row sounds good

PaulST - saw another of your videos on youtube where you say the IFE on CX has its negatives with the 4.5 minutes worth of advertisements before a programme. You are able to fast-forward through that on all other CX flights, have they stopped that with the A350?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

SC earn wont be a bummer, I wont be able to get enough for Platinum and Gold is renewed...
Man, an upgrade will be amazing....

You can jump on line as soon as you make your booking to reserve them. Check-in opens 48 hours prior, I'm not sure what happens to those exits at that point (that is, whether they're open for anyone).

SYD - HKG on Tuesday 3 Oct at 8 AM
HKG - MAA on Tuesday 3 Oct at 7 PM
MAA - HKG on Sat 7 Oct at 00:10 AM
HKG - SYD on Sat 7 Oct 8 PM or so...

But they won’t have access to the F and J lounges.
As Tom just said, the OP is a QF SG so he will have access to the J lounges (although not the F ones).

I thought I tried to fast forward through the ads, without success, although others have assured me that you can. :)

No issues fast forwarding on a 77W and 359 a couple weeks ago
