I know that there are some people in my boat who have made the switch to VA from QF. Despite my recent rants I'm overall pretty happy with VA, and much happier than I was with QF, and now that I've been bumped into SG I'll be transferring nearly all of my business here which even in Y should get me to WP each year pretty easily.

My conundrum though is this - what do I do with QF? I'm currently SG there. I won't really be using them that often but will occasionally (e.g. I sometimes [rarely] have to QF only ports like WGA, MOV or ARM, though I suspect VA will expand regionally soon; sometimes QF flights are just much, much cheaper and paying twice the price isn't always easy to justify [not often though]). If I try to retain SG, I'll probably have to sacrifice getting WP at VA. I'll get a soft landing to PS, but I don't know if that's worth retaining.

Is retaining PS on QF worth it if I'm making the switch? I was thinking of just dumping it all and heading back to NB (and perhaps aiming for partner SG for Mrs Grubbidok). I could do a LAN run and a couple of domestics on top to retain, but there would be no lounge access etc, and I'm just not that into AKL if I don't have to go (note: not anti-NZ comment, going to DUD later this month and very looking forward to it. Would just go anywhere in NZ other than AKL).

It's hard to let go though. Has anyone jumped in with both feet, or is it best there is still a toe in the QF waters? Would be good to hear of some experiences from those who've done the same.

Just my opinion - but if its possible - I would say that maintaining Gold in both QFF and Velocity gives you the most options/benefits for the money that you pay. i.e. points bonuses, lounge access, baggage etc

QF Silver is really not worth it - if I could I would get Gold in both.
