Does anyone know if AA will let you change a flight on the same day to an earlier time if it is an award ticket issued by QF? I know they will do that under their own award flights per their standard same day change / standby policy, but unclear if same applies to QF issued award.

thanks

Yes They will, you can make date and routing changes for free as long as there is award availability and there is No change in origin / destination.

Eg) if you booked Per-Hkg, you can fly Per-Hkg, Per-Sin-Hkg, Per-Kul-Hkg, Per-Syd,-Hkg. And so forth.

I tried to do this last year and AA told me I had to contact QF to make changes. QF wanted to charge me the change fee in points. In the end I declined and did not make change. On the other hand, AA allow you to standby for an earlier flight on QF award flights (AA metal).

I've done it via calling up QF.

Was going to be on a later connecting flight into JFK so needed to change. Agent advised I would be charged a fee, but it hasn't appeared on my statement! :p

One more question - is it possible to make a same day change from a QF flight to an EK one? I am flying from SYD-CHC on an AA issued award on the QF 18:50 fight - but I would really like to get on the EK flight (QF code share) which is in the morning. I was not able to book the EK flight as AA is not a partner of EK.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
