Hi all

I have two award flights in Y on QF from BNE to JFK in October which has just been changed to the 787.

As QF has cancelled my domestic connection from NTL to BNE they have offered me to either stay with the 787 from BNE or change to the A380 out of SYD.

Travelling as a couple in Y what would be be peoples recommendations?

The A380 or the 787?

Thanks

1. What is the flight # for the 787 BNE-JFK. I'm flying in mid Oct and haven't had any change.
2. I think I would go the A380 ex SYD. Don't know why but has been negative reviews for the 787 Y product

If you are short and fat then the A380. It is supposed to be wider seats but less legroom. If you are talll and skinny the 787 - it’s supposedly has 1” more between seats. If you are tall and fat / broad shouldered ... toss a coin :p

I jest. But generally my experience as someone with fairly broad shoulders on other airlines I’ve found the 380 seats better than the 787, even if slightly less legroom (I’m 6’ tall).

A380 hands down,
Y in the QF 787 is very cramped and would not be fun for long haul.

QF have basically put all their 787 attention into J and then crammed as many people in as possible in the back.

I'm 787.
Give me the newer IFE and more legroom any day (being over 6ft).

Im not small shouldered and was fine with the width on medium distance 787 flights on Jetstar, Scoot and Norwegian

So from AusBT

"After a two hour layover at Los Angeles the Dreamliner will continue to New York as the cross-country QF11/QF12 shuttle, having also picked up passengers from Qantas' Sydney-LA and Melbourne-LA services."

So if i was on the A380 from SYD then i would just have to get on the 787 in LA

I am tall and 95kg so not too fat.

I have read some good things on not feeling jet lagged on the 787 but travelling as a couple the seating options may be better on the A380

Have not tried the 787 as yet so can't compare.

However, having travelled to 70+ countries on a multitude of airlines and many aircraft types, the A380 is my absolute number one favourite.

The reduced noise, smoother ride, feeling of spaciousness, the QF "help yourself" snack bar at the back, the large size of the aircraft=long aisles giving you the ability to get some exercise for the legs during the flight is yet to be beaten..
