Think I know the answers - am SG

But if I am on a Jetstar Asia flight, no lounge access
If I am on a MH flight in Y, no lounge access

Is this correct?

Thanks

No, not correct. As a SG you would have access if your next onward flight was on both 3K or MH flight number.

See the lounge access rules for more details.

sounds like you may be missing out on a lot of lounge access!!

Qantas Gold is Oneworld Sapphire. OWS gets you lounge accesss for all oneworld airlines, and other benefits such as priority check-in. This applies if even if you are in economy or premium economy.

Qantas Gold gets you access to lounges prior to Jetstar flights (whichever country the jetstar happens to belong to).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

With the caveat being - if the Qantas Lounge is open and in the right terminal

For the 3K (Jetstar Asia) flight - Qantas Lounge is open 1430 to 2300 - so no access if 3K flight is in the morning
For the MH flight - MH operates from Terminal 2, whereas Qantas, Jetstar and the lounge are in Terminal 1. If open you could go to the Qantas lounge and then leave 20min before boarding to transfer terminals (all SIN terminals are airside and connected by AirTrain), but I suspect you are better going to the Malaysia Lounge to be closer to your gate

--

Also if you are only Qantas Club (and not Qantas Gold) you would only have access before the 3K flight, not the MH flight

Do Jetstar Japan flights have access (for anyone)?

Happy wandering

FWIW, I took 14 mins to walk from Qantas lounge to gate F36 in T2, using travellators to get from T1 to T2, this just about furthest gate in Changi from the Qantas Lounge. I walk fast so add 5 mins for an average (Australian) walking pace. Could be quicker if sky train is there and use that. Also have taken MH from an E gate in T2 that was right beside a T1 gate so took only 5 mins that time.

Bottom line MH state their gates close 20mins before departure (in reality that's when boarding starts, as usually there's a tight turn around with MH planes at SIN), so leaving 45 mins before scheduled departure at F gates leaves plenty of time (40 mins if departing from E gate). QF lounge is much much better than MH lounge (which is probably most like the Qantas Club in Hobart).

Here's a slightly different question:

I'm WP, arriving at 17:55 on QF35 from MEL. And my next flight, on a separate ticket, is a MH flight to KUL the following day - so on a oneworld carrier and the flight is less than 24 hours after arriving.

Can I access the QC on arrival? (I have about 90 mins to fill before I am being picked up at SIN where I will overnight).

The access rules say:

Eligible Qantas Members
Platinum Frequent Flyer - Next onward flight must be on a Qantas^, Emirates^, Jetstar Airlines+ or oneworld operated and marketed flight.#
Gold Frequent Flyer - Next onward flight that day must be on a Qantas^, Emirates^, Jetstar Airlines+ or oneworld operated and marketed flight.#

Eligible oneworld Status
Emerald - Next onward flight that day must be on a oneworld operated and marketed flight.#

It's seems the "that day" requirement does not apply to WPs?

I haven't tried personally but GK is incl. in the list of eligible airline codes that can access via SG - the main challenge is finding a port with a QC that has international GK flights and is open. Looks like only possible in HKG at present.

We have had this situation mentioned before. You should be OK with an early morning departure. Not sure what happens with an afternoon departure the next day. You may have to try and convince lounge staff to allow you into lounge.

FWIW I have not had any issues accessing Skyview Lounge with flight the next morning. They have even let me stay in lounge while they were cleaning.

My departure is early afternoon the next day.

I've been knocked back before when I actually did have an early morning departure the next day, but the on-line rule statements have been modified since then to include "that day" for some of statuses. The rules where "that day" doesn't apply (eg for WPs) state it just has to be "next onward". Less than 24 hours is a legal transit, so I would have thought that would be a reasonable limit.

I'll find out soon enough ...

And the result: Access allowed. They did want to see my onwards boarding pass and it was fine. I stayed for an hour or so. :)
