Hi All,

Hoping someone can give me a hand to make a decision on who to fly with from BNE-DME in December of this year. I'll be flying Y with my wife.
Bit of a backstory, we've flown SQ twice, and had amazing experiences both times. We have however, only flown QR once (BKK-DOH-FCO) and it was a terrible experience. Overbooked, cramped seating, poor service etc. That said, the QR flight was about 5 years ago, and I don't know whether they've lifted their game since?

I'm looking at flying out on the 15th December 2016, and both airlines are pretty equivalent.
They're both about the same price.
They both have similar travel times.
They both are similarly rated in terms of airline rating and economy seating.
QR is 2 stops from BNE (SYD & DOH) with SQ only being 1.

The upside that is going for QR is that by the time we fly, I will be SG with Qantas which brings the airline lounges, QFF benefits and priority/privileges into consideration.
Downside is that we've still got that bad taste from the last experience which is making us nervous.
QR flight is on B777-300 and A320

Upside for SQ is that we're confident that it will be a great flight.
Downside is that no points, no status recognition, no lounge access.
SQ flight is on A330-300 and B777-300

Any thoughts from those that have experienced both, and which way they would go, would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Trent

I would fly SQ every time! Much better service and only drop down once not twice! You can always join SQ's Kris Flyer and start earning points with them
and they are generous with their points, also give 15% discount if redeeming points on line.

I personally rate Singapore Airlines slightly above Qatar Airways... but not enough that I would choose SQ and forgo lounge access etc. with Qatar, all things being equal.

I wouldn't think that QR's Y experience has gotten any better. Although it's likely to be at least slightly better this time as OWS.

Personally SQ is still my benchmark in Y as a total product.

QR is great in J, but have not tried in Y. I second others' comments that SQ Y is the Y product to beat.

The extra stopover is what would kill me, travelling in Y.

Also, be warned. From the oneworld website, in the footer: https://www.oneworld.com/ffp/lounge-access

2. Guests are not permitted at Qatar Airways Al Safwa and Al Mourjan lounges at Hamad International Airport in Doha or Qatar Airways Premium Lounge at London Heathrow Terminal 4.

Even though the above two sections contradict this.
