I managed to book 2 award seats (1 MAD-DOH-SYD in J and another MAD-DOH (J)-SYD (F) for Mr LL and myself) on May 15 2023 using AA points. So today I received an e-mail re-timing these bookings to MAD-DOH (departing 4pm instead of 9:30am) then a 20 hour layover and DOH-SYD the following day.
Can't understand this as the original itinerary is still bookable as a paid fare (not an award). Then I read about Iberia entering into a new agreement with QR and IB will start flying MAD-DOH later this year - so maybe IB will 'take over' the morning flight.
Checked the bookings on the QR website and I see new e-tickets have been allocated. (I was worried as I have also read about QR just canceling awards booked via partner airlines for no reason - seems to be have been around the same time QR seemingly pulled all award inventory to/from Australia (and other regions).
