Qantas Website Glitch

Hi all,

The other day I was flying SYD>PVG on QF129. I put though a points upgrade request a month earlier and a few days out there was a few seats left in Business. I am Qantas gold so I liked my chances of the upgrade (for me and my partner) going through.

I didn't receive an email confirmation of the upgrade, but logged on the night before and was able to select business seats. The website then directed me to select economy seats as well for the same flight. I made the assumption that I must have logged on just as the request had been processed so I was going to have the upgrade approved.

Got to the airport the next day, seats were back in economy.

Anyone else experienced being able to select business seats without an upgrade being processed?

This doesn't sound like a glitch, but the process that occurs in the backend when upgrades are being determined close to the flight.

It is not unusual for a second booking to be created whilst the upgrade is wait listed, but will disappear once the decision has been made either way.

I've been able to select J seats but not Y seats, but found myself still in Y at check in.

I've only ever seen oddness like this when a waitlist is being confirmed rather than not. A couple of times I've logged in prior to a notification and seen 2 "fligts" in the booking, the one in the lower cabin, and the other in the higher both as Confirmed. Usually cleaned up by the processing in due course but always leving the upgrade confirmed. Does seem odd to not be confirmed.

Does seem a bit odd tbh. Sorry you didn't get the upgrades come through, but remember seeing a few seats a couple of days out doesn't mean they haven't been sold - they may not have been allocated, or WP/WP1 may have been upgraded and not allocated in the meantime.

It wasn't a huge issue that we didn't get the upgrade. We did need the extra weight allowance to ship all our stuff but we were eventually able to get it all on the plane after a bit of repacking. I will say the woman who was checking us in (Carolyn?), must have woken up on the wrong side of bed that morning. Stroppiest qantas worker I have ever encountered! I could tell we were going to have issues before we even spoke to her!

Why are you in Y blackcat20? Don't they know who you are? Sheesh...:)

Apparently not! That was back when I was NB and still had a lot to learn! At least I had the exit row sorted. Or I did, until my flight was so delayed I misconnected in LA and got the last aisle seat on the plane....

That is my experience too.

Why does the QF website say things like 'confirm form resubmission' and 'generic error' so often when trying to do an adjustment? I don't encounter these annoying irritating time wasting messages on other sites that make me start again?

Is it just me, is there a go around? I know that I can adjust search, but I obviously forget quite often. PS I'm using Chrome.
