I have long been loyal to QF and given all my oneworld flights to that account. I only managed to get silver since I hardly ever fly QF because I live in South America. I have been flying Qatar airways a lot more and think I may be better off switching over to them and associating all my flights on oneworld partners to Qatar. Can someone please give me a rough breakdown on who I am better off going with when it comes to getting status and eventually booking award flights?? I stupidly credited two long haul J flights with Qatar to my Qantas FF account and got hardly any status credits for them which was what caused me to open an Qatar FF account. Thanks

Quick follow up. I opened an account with AA but I can't credit any flights taken before I opened my FF account with them. Will I still be better off in the long run if I decide to credit all my flights to them from now on? Most of the flights I will take are Qatar airways and maybe Iberia, however I will most likely fly American Airlines for award bookings. Looking to balance getting status vs award bookings. I credited 2 Qatar flights to my Qatar FF account and I am already nearly 50% to silver, even though I already have silver with Qantas.

The earning and redemption with Qatar Privilege does look inferior to AAdvantage.
However it is worth investigating the advantages of having status with the airline you fly with the most. The obvious thing is being able to upgrade with points (and possibly better service recovery) but there may be hidden benefits (eg are you more likely to be given an op-up as a Qatar Oneworld Sapphire/Emerald than another programme's?, is it easier to access reward seats?, access to lucrative bonus point promotions).
Also, remember you need 4 AA flights for status

Qatar privilege used to be a great FF before the massive devaluation after joining OW. Back in 2012, I managed to get J seat for short haul GRU-EZE for 12,500 points...
