Hi all,

I have a Qantas voucher (cancellation value) with a $110 change fee to use.

Am I able to buy a refundable fare with the voucher, cancel it and therefore find myself fully refunded apart from the $110?

Seems like a nice little loophole. I'm actually happy to use the voucher, but it's too restrictive (one way or return only; no JQ, no multi leg etc)

Thanks :)

Too good a potential loophole, and too obvious for it not to have been closed off. The original refund restrictions will follow through to whatever you use the voucher for, so no joy in that one.

In a word, no.

Vouchers are not like gift vouchers, i.e. just a dollar amount that you can use however.
When you use a voucher to book a flight all you are really doing is changing the dates and/or routing of the originally purchased flight - the effect of which is that the conditions attached to the original fare (including the validity date and the non-refundability) still apply to the new flight.
