Just saw this on Qantas facebook site

'Ellen is coming to Australia – and so is her audience!

In a show taped today, Ellen and Swisse Wellness Ambassador Nicole Kidman announced The Ellen DeGeneres Show will visit Melbourne and Sydney in March to film several segments. As part of the announcement Qantas gave each member of the in-studio audience a return trip from the US to Australia. The episode will screen tomorrow in the United States so stay tuned for clips of the big reveal.'

When will Qantas do something for its Gold and Platinum members based in Australia?
:p:p

I wonder if they will put a big "E" on the Sydney Harbour Bridge like they did for Oprah (although of course that was an "O") :)

It's a sponsorship deal by QF and Swisse, no doubt to counter their pulling out of working with Tourism Australia.

Thant makes sense, Jock 28 - I hadn't even thought of that. Her show does seem very popular in the US so I suppose there is good PR value there for Qantas.

Clearly qantas will not rest until every daytime tv audience member in the US has received a free trip down under.

Her show is already sponsored by AA (I sometimes turn on the TV 30 seconds too early, just in time to here the "we know why you fly" slogan), so it's a pretty natural fit...

Time to go buy some QANTAS shares... Although might not go up as much as when Oprah did her trip...

That was just to designate the cheap red e-deal economy booking code Qantas allocated for the show's guests

Great, a whole lot more Americans who will start spelling it QUANTAS

I wouldn't immediately see that correlation, considering the prior Oprah trip.

Fly one audience to Australia, fly another a few years down the line, doesn't have to be anything to do with Tourism Australia, or lack thereof.

I wonder if I'll bump into any of them in March... have 9 flights that month, though probably not to the places her audience will want to visit, unless any like Qantas and the Founders Museum :p

Everyone appears to assume that the audience are coming with Ellen. They are not. They are being given vouchers to redeem for travel on QF within 12 months to travel separately.

That's noticeably different to Oprah, guess Ellen's budget couldn't stretch as far!
