Qantas FF "50% Bonus Points" 14 Aug 17 offer

Have just received an email from QF FF

From today (14/8/17) to a week's time (20/8/17), it appears on any QF ticketed booking I make for travel between 14/8/17 and 12/12/17, I will receive 50% more FF points.

Perhaps targeted.

Anyone else?

*Edit* To clarify, this is not a status credits bonus, solely additional FF points.

I got the same but for status credits, which is great as I'm about to book a US trip for October which I nearly booked on the weekend and would not have been eligible for the Qantas Business 50% SC offer.. good thing I waited!

here's a general tip: If you get an email, but it does not show up as a promo on qantas.com splash page or the main qantas points website front page, then you can pretty much be certain it is targeted.

Yeah the "Fly To Los Angeles" which I'd recently searched for might be a bit of a give-away. Plus I'm at 1000/1400SC for platinum but membership year ends in August

I spent several hours calculating that but it's just not worth it Especially flying from Perth. Would have to spend at least $2k probably more like $3k. I have my second 50SC bonus due in 45SC so I'd technically only need 345SC or 230SC with a 1.5x offer. But even economy to the US and back which for me is one of the best $/SC it's just coming up short.

As tempting as it is.. I think I'm stuck on Gold for now

Considering the DSC offer from earlier this year covers flights through to 19 February 2018 it's unlikely there'll be another DSC offer for some months yet. This year's promo covered a month or two of the period covered by last year's promo. Considering December-January is a peak holiday period I would be surprised if there was another DSC offer before Australia Day. I think if there is one next year somewhere in the March-May timeframe would be a good wild guess. I doubt QANTAS has even made up their mind yet when to next do a double status credits offer. If they can use a double points offer to entice enough forward bookings they may not see the need to do one at all next year.

As for targeted 50% bonus offers those come at different times throughout the year.

It has been known for the good people at Qantas to offer an incentive to a FF who may need to book a flight or two to maintain their WP status, a DSC for a limited time.

These days the targeted offers seem to usually be 50% bonus rather than double if AFF is a good indication.
