Qantas downgrade on aa award

Had a flight
tsv-bne
bne-cbr

AA award flight
tsv -bne no problems

bne-cbr flight was cancelled (probably because the next flight was 15mins later and everyone from both flights could fill the one plane) so the next flight didn't have j

the lounge manager said this happens a lot more often then he would like and to send him an email for compensation

have not sent email yet

what compensation can really be expected considering half the flight was completed in j and it was an aa award

I'd suggest whatever half the points used for the upgrade were.

I dunno - probably nothing from a technical standpoint - awards are charged at the highest level for mixed class. I've had similar downgrades intra-Asia flying CX and no points were refunded.

As a goodwill gesture I don't know how QF can get AA to give you points back. Maybe QF will send you a voucher or a free lounge pass?
