Hello all,

I am just a bit concerned about the limited choice when it comes to flying between BNE and WLG direct. Air NZ no longer has any flights, and the only offering right now are 2 daily return flights on Virgin.

The Qantas offering is mainly transferring through SYD or MEL on the odd occasion (and works out very expensive), but it is just way too time consuming, despite the opportunity to visit the First lounge.

What is the future of this route with Qantas or other full service airlines?

What you see now it what it will be. Virgin & Air NZ operate as 1 airline with the codeshare

Low demand, even with Kiwi pollies & civil servants. Only low $ VFR traffic (visiting friends & relations).
No one goes to WLG for a holiday (and I have lived there)

I do. Love it. My favourite small city in the world (or at least this part of it).

(But there may not be enough of me to fill a plane).

If the demand is there, QF or NZ would fly there. Even a couple of times a week, you need to fill the aircraft for it to work. 150 seats is just too much - and to be honest, there are only really a handful of passengers who fly via SYD (or MEL) to get there so there isn't exactly a huge number.

I just wish someone would fly direct CBR-WEL or CBR-AKL; I'm sure they could fill planes even if just once or twice a week (similar to the current QF ZQN arrangent perhaps).

That's true, even a couple of flights a week would be enough for BNE as well as CBR. I'm sure they could fill a few 737s.

And Wellington is definitely my favourite little capital, and I'm making the move there soon, hence the question. The holidays I have taken there have just not been enough for me.

Sweet justice! $209 sale to Welly! $379 was just extremely overly ridiculous.

I think the problem for me was the price. I don't mind the in-direct routing through Sydney (and as a true FFFreak, I actually quite enjoy it), as long as one way isn't costing me the same as a return on a Branson jet.
