Excellent.

I have held off booking 2 awards in October so this should make it a little sweeter. May even book an award for November.

Wish they did this offer for business seats.

Classic Flight Rewards in Economy are generally poor value once you factor in paying taxes.

But a lot of people don't. A lot of people don't give the points a dollar value, so it makes it really good value in their eyes.

Domestically, they tend to be good value in economy. Internationally, they can be OK, simply due to the difficulty in getting premium seats if you aren't booking 355 days in advance ....;)

Economy awards are indeed poor value unless you are stuck out of position and need expensive cash airfares. The 20% discount makes them somewhat bearable.

While I agree that economy awards are generally poor value, there are some exceptions - especially if you often fly to somewhere expensive like CBR!

I live in SYD and regularly visit CBR. I can fly (for example) from OOL to SYD in the morning, spend the day working in Sydney, then fly SYD to CBR in the evening (all on one ticket) for 8,000 points (plus some taxes). With this deal it will be only 6,400 points. Considering this would normally cost $200+, that seems pretty good to me!

Indeed some routes such as MEL > BME or PER > DRW which cost a small fortune in the way of a cash fare, then this promotion does provide good value.

Value is in the eye of the beholder.

Back on topic. Please note the condition on transfers. Connections between jetstar and Qantas are not eligible for a discount - it's Qantas or Jetstar. But may just be a restriction on transfers rather than stopovers. Also transfers onto/from Qantas/Jetstar at an international gateway are not eligible. Again I'm not sure if that also applies to stopovers.

If a Trip includes a Transfer (a flight within 24 hours) from or to the international Qantas or Jetstar gateway or a Transfer (domestic same day or international within 24 hours) between Qantas and Jetstar, that Trip is not eligible for this offer.

Last time around their IT system allowed you to book (say) CBR-SYD-HKG with the first leg in Y and the second in J and get the discount on the entire thing. This might be their hamfisted way of stopping that without actually mending their system.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I have trouble interpreting the condition, but I think connections in Australia are ok. Just not connections at a Qantas international gateway. The example they gave was connecting BRU-LHR-Oz. It's not exactly clear, but I think a QF to QF transfer at an Australian port would be ok.

I did a quick search for MEL-SIN-KUL earlier and got caught by the Qantas or Jetstar condition. I haven't bothered to check the practical restrictions on transfers in Australia
