We are flying to Tokyo Saturday evening from Sydney.

With the industrial action by the Australian Border Force this week, would very much like some information on the "early acceptance of baggage/All day check-in" program that Qantas was trailing. Would anybody know if it is still operational?
It would be very helpful.
Thanks for any information

Yes, you can check in anytime throughout the day when departing on an international Qantas flight from Sydney.

I believe the strike on Saturday evening will be from 7-9pm in Sydney, so if you're through immigration and customs before 7pm you should miss the worst of it.

I'm flying out of Sydney on Saturday myself (mid-morning) and will be aiming to arrive before the morning strike begins at 7am.

I am so glad you asked this question - have been looking for information on whether all day check in was available still. Flying out on QF11 on Tuesday and as far as I can see the strikes are in the evening only but would still like to be at the airport early :)

Thank you Mattg for your reply and you are welcome emeline.

Just for your information I called QF before I posted here, they had no idea what I was talking about, just kept repeating what is the recommended time for check-in and what is the minimum time for it. The lady said she has never heard of all day check-in and the earliest is 3 hours before departure.
My issue was that having searched the QF website could not find any reference of the 3 hours being the earliest or the early acceptance of baggage. Maybe QF is a bit confused.:(

Regardless, we will be at the airport 2 hours before the strike is expected to start and will try to do the early check-in.

Safe travels Nana:cool:

I'm surprised Qantas didn't know their own policy.

But don't worry, All Day check-in is definitely still a thing in SYD - I last used it three weeks ago.

Just to let you know, you were 100% correct Qantas does not know their policy, we were able to check in 6 hours before departure. Thank you
