Hi hope not too stupid a question!

I mainly fly international, DOM when I do is hand luggage only.

Going to Hobart this weekend ( double SC offer of course :) ) and will check in a bag

I've ended up with two sets of silver Q tags
over the years. My question is does it matter if I use the old ones or do I have to swap on the new one

Same QFF account.

I have a collection of five tags. I vary them around to give each one an outing. :).

All tags are the same other than the colouring. They're not even linked to your QFF account - they're only linked to a particular booking when you actually check luggage in.

This, but also, don't carry both on the same bag as it wont work. ;)

Thanks for confirming appreciate it!

I hope to have some different colours soon too so will take the advice on taking them all out for 'outings'...

I didn't know they weren't linked to my QFF. I've been blissfully using them all over the world as ID thinking no problem if I lose my bag they'll decode them and know who I am and they'd magically arrive back to my home address in Oz!!!

K.

If only! I have been selling my bag tags on eBay as I have absolutely no use for them and don't even see them as 'gifts' for mates.

Perhaps if you'd used one and whoever found it knew what it was and had the technology to read your last booking, which might somehow give your details up... but the only way would be if you left your contact details on the back ;)

Nothing is written to the tags.

The tags just contain an RFID chip with a unique ID.
When you checkin your bag, the ID is read and stored against your booking.

That's interesting. I have some old silver tags collecting dust. How much do they fetch on ebay?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

QP members can buy them for $50 I believe, so that's probably a good ballpark value.

Ahh, good to know!

There's been a promotion for a while where you get two for that price, but the machines in the check-in hall sell just the 1 for $50.
